Daniel Hooper is software engineer and designer whose work focuses on tools for creatives, and video games.

Daniel’s 2012 design for gestural text selection was covered by The Verge, Engadget, iMore, Fast Company, MacRumors, and Daring Fireball. The design is now integrated into Android and iOS.

Daniel worked at Apple on the iOS and macOS Photography Apps.

After leaving Apple, he created Principle, a UI prototyping tool. It went on to be used by design teams at Apple, Google, Microsoft, IDEO, Figma, and more. Apple featured Principle in its 2019 WWDC Keynote.

Daniel writes and speaks on topics related to software and design. He has given talks for Google, Booking.com, Apple’s design teams, Yandex, and several local tech communities.

He lives in Oregon with his lovely wife and cute dog. In his free time Daniel enjoys collecting hobbies.
